Most of us like to have a viewing system that provides high resolution and picture quality. We can choose from different display device like the LCD, Plasma, Rear-projection, Projectors and Laser TV. In this article, we will learn how these display devices work as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
High-definition display devices
LCD Screens
Understanding the different devices will help our judgment in choosing the right viewing system. First off is the LCD. LCD is also known as the “Liquid Crystal display”. But why are they called liquid crystal display? How will a solid (crystal) and a liquid end up together and form a display device. The unique characteristics of both states of matter compensate each other providing you with the Liquid Crystal Display. LCD is a slim flat display gadget made of monochrome pixels arranged in front of a reflector or a source of light. Electronic devices powered by small batteries benefit from the use of LCD screens because it only uses small amount of power.
Plasma Screens
The next one is the Plasma displays. A plasma display illuminates by exciting rare gases that produces tiny, colored lights in order to form an image. Each light is made up of red, green and blue lights.
These lights are essential to form a more defined and intensified image. Plasma TVs have wide screen and they are only 6 inches thick. They can be very accommodating in small spaces.
Rear Projector TVs
On the other hand, rear-projections don’t need to use cathode ray tubes for display. Rear-projections uses a projection screen but the only disadvantage is you cannot enjoy viewing in every angle. Continue reading »
