Both of these formats use blue lasers and they also have the same options for video and audio compression. But blu-ray has a larger storage space. It offers a 50 GB dual layer disc. On the other hand, HD-DVD has a lesser storage space. It has 30 GB dual layer disc. When it comes to the affordability of these 2 discs, HD-DVD is more affordable than Blu-ray.
