Do I need to get an HDTV in 2009?

The revolution is here to switch over to digital TV and then what is everyone going to do if you do not have cable? On February 17, 2009, all signals sent out by the television companies have to broadcast in digital. This means you need a special antenna or a digital converter box in order to watch free TV. The federal government agency, the FCC, has set the standard controls to digital broadcasting. Right now all of the signals you are receiving through your antenna is what the technological people call an analog signal and the FCC said that coming in February 2009, the signal would have to be switched to digital. This means you will have to upgrade your TV antenna in order to get a signal.
Do not worry, you will not have to go out and buy a new TV in order to still get a signal. Right now out on the market you can buy a digital converter box or an antenna to get a signal to avoid the shut off of your free TV.

All of the older televisions that use an analog system have finally been put to rest, or have they? If you do not want to buy a new television you can save your money by buying a converter box. Here are a few things that can help you before the big date shows up. A converter box can add a few channels that you did not have before if you just had an antenna on the roof of your house. The federal government is offering a coupon to get $40 off of the purchase of that box but you can only get two coupons per household. These converter boxes are great because they offer you to view a few more channels but it is just like your cable box, if bad weather comes up, you do not get a signal on your television.
