How to Choose your TV?

Planning to buy a new television set? Do you know the right one to choose? Because of the many options that are available in the market, you may have a hard time choosing the appropriate television for you. But don’t worry, this article might provide you with some suggestions you can consider when choosing your new TV.

Tips on Buying the Right TV Set

Many people like to choose a much bigger screen TV when buying a new television since “bigger is better” especially if you wish to have a home theater system. But we should take into consideration the size of your room where you will place your TV, the viewing distance as well as your budget.

Firstly, the viewing point should be at the right distance. How would you know that you are viewing from the right distance though? If you are sitting too far from the screen, you will lose the overall impact of the images you’re watching. On the other hand, if you’re too close to the screen, you will see small dots (pixels) on the screen. To have an idea of how large your TV screen should be, browse through the available recommended size tables available in electronics stores in your area.

Besides looking at the size of the screen, you still need to consider the quality and resolution of the images on screen. A rule of thumb here is to choose the highest resolution TV that you can afford as this is directly proportional to the quality of the picture you get. Of course, the picture quality and the resolutions will differ according to the technology used in the TV you are looking at. CRT TVs tend to have very wide viewing angles as well as high resolutions, Plasma TVs on the other hand are not just lighter and slimmer but renders deeper blacks and contrast as well. LCD TVs on the other hand can show the most vivid of colors.

Factors to Consider When Buying a TV

Price: for most, the most important factor to consider when buying TVs, especially large screen ones is the price. Among CRTs, LCDs and Plasma TVs, CRTs win the price war hands down. After all, it is the oldest TV technology still available. Improvements in CRT technology have even developed to closely match the quality of those newer sets.

Size and Weight: Again, when it comes to size and weight, CRT TVs win hands down. Although who wants a bulky and heavy TV set? Plasma TVS are generally the lightest since most of the TV components are contained in the screen. LCD TVs are also light and slim although these sets need an internal lamp in order to work.

Quality: Quality wise, there isn’t a general consensus on which type of TV is the best. CRTs are said to have the widest viewing angles and highest resolutions, LCDs are said to have the best colors and Plasmas are said to have the highest contrast. New technologies in each of the types of TVs however have closed the gap when it comes to the differences.

Whatever type of television you wish to purchase; it depends on your taste as well as your budget. Just remember to spend your money wisely and choose a television with high quality and a type that will last for years to come.
